On Thursday 29 April 2010 Jeremy Fog, Deputy Director of the National English Literary Museum, and Professor Paul Walters of the Rhodes University English Department will give us a talk on Olive Schreiner. Meet at the Library Hall at 10.00 am.

Lil Haig will offer a four week course on wine tasting starting on 8 April 2010. The venue will be the Institute for Water Research at Rhodes University starting at 5.15 pm. The cost is R130 for the complete course.

On Wednesday 14 April 2010 we will visit the Mariya uMama we Themba Monastery where Brother Timothy will chat about the life of the Benedictine monks. Meet at the Museum at 2.15. If you can offer transport please contact Merle Murray on 046 622 3902.

On Thursday 25 March 2010 Jennifer Laws will talk on how she changed her career from being a Rhodes Drama Student to Helicopter Instructor at the 43 Air School near Port Alfred. Meet at the Library Hall at 10.00 am.

Malcolm Hacksley will offer a three week course on the hidden history behind nursery rhymes starting on Wednesday 21 April 2010 in the Library Hall from 10.00 am to 11.00 am.

Professor Mike Whisson will offer a three week course on the great religions of the world starting on Tuesday 6 April 2010 between 10.00 am and 11.00 am. The venue will be the Library Hall.

Margaret Lloyd and Jean Pote will offer a six week course on calligraphy to be held at Margaret Lloyd’s home – 8 Allen Street – from 10 am to 11 am starting on 12 March 2010
Feb 11th
The speaker at our February meeting on 25 February will be Mr Anthony Parnell, headmaster of St Andrew’s Preparatory School in the 1970s and head of the Drakensberg Boys Choir. He will be talking about the choir and playing some of their music. Meet at the library hall at 10.00 am
Jan 31st
On Wednesday 10 February 2010 we will visit Wendy Brown’s farm, 18 ks out of town, to see her pottery. Meet at the Albany Museum for departure at 9.00 am.
